Sad life of the brand new Skoda in NZ – 1960s

An unknown gentleman bought this czechoslovak Skoda Octavia Combi on New-Zealand in the 1960s.

His 35mm slides found couple of years ago at the Wellington rubbish dump. This selection starts with the photographer proudly showing off their brand new Skoda. The narrative from there on in is pretty self explanatory. Some family photos also found in this serie so maybe we have a chance to find out who’s bought the rare right-hand drive commie car and hows the accident happened…

Skoda had its own importer in New Zealand, Phil Andrews, who later bought Skoda 1.2 engines from Czechoslovakia and installed it in its own built car. It was called Trekka an built between 1966 and 1973 with several body versions. TREKKA LINK
